Vishay Intertechnology introduces PCAN series of precision, high-power thin-film chip resistors to 1206 and 2512 cases with power ratings up to 6 watts

Image of Vishay/Thin Film's PCAN Series of Thin-Film Chip Resistors Vishay's PCAN series chip resistors are designed on aluminum nitride ceramic substrates with enlarged backside terminations to reduce the thermal resistance between the topside resistor layer and the solder joint on the end user's circuit assembly.

Actual power-handling capability is limited by the end-user mounting process. As with any high-power chip resistor, the ability to remove the heat is critical to the overall performance of the device.

  • Offer 2x the power rating over traditional thin-film chip resistors in the same case sizes
  • Features thermal conductivity aluminum nitride substrate
  • Designed with enlarged backside terminations to reduce the thermal resistance
  • Available with lead (PB)-free or lead terminations
  • RoHS compliant
  • Flame resistant in accordance to UL 94 V-0
