This illustration shows the relative thickness of the Power Metal Strip® technology as compared to the commercial thin film and thick film technologies. The large red block represents the metal cross-section of a 2512 resistance element that is 0.0089” thick. The thin red layers on the other two shapes are scaled representations of the resistance layer, which illustrates how most of their mass is a ceramic substrate. The larger mass resistance element means that it will withstand more pulse energy before a thermal limit is reached. This plainly shows that the Power Metal Strip is noticeably thicker than the other technologies for a similar resistance value of 10 mΩ. Simply put, greater resistor element mass means superior pulse performance.
