ROHM Semiconductor’s smart power devices protect electronic circuits from breakdown

Image of ROHM's IPD AECQ SwitchesROHM's AECQ-100 intelligent power devices (IPD) AECQ switches are semiconductor devices that protect electronic circuits from breakdown (i.e. due to overcurrent during abnormalities). Unlike conventional fuses, IPDs used as semiconductor fuses can protect circuits without degrading or breaking down, making it possible to achieve maintenance-free systems.

Smart power switches from ROHM’s IPD series are available as low-side or high-side switch ICs to provide the right part for the application. The designs of these automotive-grade universal switches integrate a low on- resistance MOSFET and multiple protection circuits into one chip. This provides enhanced protection against cases of overheating, overvoltage, overcurrent, and load short-circuiting, ensuring suitability for a variety of industrial applications.
