STPM801 Automotive Hot-Swap Diode Controller

STMicroelectronics' controller protects loads from high-voltage transients and OV and UV conditions

Image of STMicroelectronics STPM801 Automotive Hot-Swap Diode ControllerSTMicroelectronics' STPM801 protects loads from high voltage transients, limiting and regulating the output during an overvoltage (OV) event, such as load dump, by controlling the voltage drop across an external N-channel MOSFET. An integrated ideal diode controller drives a second MOSFET (the OR-ing) to replace a Schottky diode for reverse input protection and output voltage holdup.

Features
  • Wide input voltage range: 4 V to 65 V
  • Reverse input protection: -65 V
  • Two external N-channel MOSFET pre-drivers
  • Quiescent current: <50 μA if WAKE low
  • Input OV and undervoltage (UV) protection
  • Output overcurrent protection
  • Complies with the 16750 AC ripple test requirements (50 Hz to 25 kHz)
  • Adjustable soft start with external capacitor
  • Developed according to ISO 26262 to support ASIL D application
  • AEC-Q100 qualified
Applications
  • Zonal/body electronic control units (ECUs)
  • ADAS ECUs
  • High-performance compute ECUs
  • Infotainment ECUs
  • Redundant power delivery
  • Dual battery systems
