New to UltraScale+™ is UltraRAM, a large, lightweight memory block that enables deep memory buffering. Because these UltraRAMs are implemented on 16 nm FinFET+ process technology, they are extremely power efficient. Also, UltraRAMs can be manually or automatically put into sleep mode, where the peripheral logic goes to sleep while the SRAM remains powered and retains its contents. The hardened cascading feature for UltraRAM is much more extensive than it is for Block RAM, with connectivity across an entire column. In the case of Kintex® and Zynq® devices, one can cascade them vertically for up to 36 Mb of memory in a single column. Flexible cascade capabilities allow UltraRAM blocks to be used in many configurations.
