Small size is critical in wearable and mobile applications. SiTime’s megahertz and kilohertz oscillators have the ability to drive more than one point of load. The result is the elimination of multiple external X-TALs and a savings in the Bill-of-Materials as well as valuable PCB real estate. In this example, a single SiTime 32kHz oscillator replaces the MCU’s 32kHz XTAL plus load caps for the RTC and the BLE’s 32kHz sleep clock XTAL plus load caps.
