This module has talked about the size and flexibility of SiTime’s tiny 32kHz solutions. SiTime also has a similar small, micro-power solution for megahertz frequencies between 1MHz to 26MHz. SiTime’s megahertz oscillators are ideal MCU reference clocks, which are typically available only in a large package such as a 2.0 x 1.6mm SMD for quartz XTALs in frequencies less than 20 MHz. In this example, a single SiT8021 16MHz oscillator replaces the MCU’s 16MHz XTAL plus load caps. In addition, the LVCMOS output enables the clock to be located almost anywhere on the PCB. This can be a very nice feature for small designs where space is critical.
