One strategy for reducing stray capacitance and inductance is to reduce the length of the pass between the resistive element and the circuit board. The original PAT series has a side terminal and the signal must go around the edge of the substrate. Susumu has also been offering custom face down PAT in order to make the signal pass shorter. In the ATS series, the resistive element located on top of the substrate and the terminals located at the bottom, are connected through-hole via. In order to make the via short, thinner ceramic substrate is used.
