STMicroelectronics' VNI4140K Intelligent Power SwitchSTMicroelectronics' VNI4140K is an IPS (Intelligent Power Switch) that can drive four independent capacitive, resistive or inductive loads with one side connected to ground. The VNI4140K integrates protections to meet the harsh requirements of industrial applications. An active current limitation prevents a drop in system power supply in the event of shorted load, and a built-in thermal shutdown protects the chip from damage due to over-temperature. Protection against loss of ground, under-voltage shutdown and fast demagnetization of inductive loads are also integrated features. The open drain diagnostics output indicates over-temperature conditions.
