In an acceleration sensor example, an accelerometer is used in conjunction with the RS08KA2 and placed within a package being shipped. When an event of sufficient strength occurs, such as hitting a wall of the truck, the KA records the event. This can be quite useful for system protection, where the system or delivery truck can be effectively “locked” or “stabilized” during acceleration and in advance of impact. It could also be used for returns and warranty control to better judge reasoning for damage to the vehicle. It has other applications including stability control, vibration monitoring, and balance control. The KA microcontroller is capable of making use of the signals and controlling the appropriate response.
