Spartan-3 is the first low cost FPGA family that includes all the high-end features that are normally associated with a high-end FPGA. Many of these features, which are included in the Spartan-3 platform, are there to help reduce device utilization and help you integrate more on to the FPGA platform. All of which are essentially designed to reduce the cost. We will review a couple of these features in detail. We will also review actual design examples where the use of these features reduces the cost significantly.
