Current-Sense-Slide5

As previously mentioned, a current sense amplifier typically monitors the voltage across a shunt resistor, which is formed by a load current. This shunt resistor can be placed on the ground path where the current sense amplifier inputs are only subjected to low voltages (GND). In addition to integrated current sense amplifiers, a standard op amp configured as a difference amplifier can be used to monitor the load current across the shunt.
