Key specifications for current sense amplifiers include: the input common mode range, bandwidth, offset drift, and output linearity. When using these parts in high voltage applications, it is important that the user be aware of the absolute maximum input voltage rating in order to protect against worst case conditions. The bandwidth is also essential. For example, some DC to DC converter applications require over 300kHz of bandwidth, something that is not attainable with a difference amplifier topology for high gains.
