Shown here are more details on the AM335x Cortex A8 microprocessor, in addition to the ARM Cortex A8 and PRU based ICSS, this device integrates several additional peripherals. For memory interfaces, DDR, parallel and serial memory interfaces are included. For connectivity, it has USB, multiple UARTs, MMC, I2C and SPI interfaces. It also has a gigabit switch with two Ethernet ports and an internal port. For application specific needs, there are CAN controllers, PWMs, ADC, audio ports, general purpose IO and display interfaces. It also has several internal accelerators such as DMA, real-time clock, SGX based 3D graphics accelerator. This device is very efficient in power consumption and hardly ever reaches a Watt in power consumption. In standby and sleep modes, it consumes just 5-7 mW.
