The ISL8203M is a fully integrated power module that saves the customer hundreds of man hours in the development process. This includes design, development and test, component procurement, and PCB board layout. Because all of the essential power supply components are integrated into a simple module, power supply design expertise is eliminated providing customers with a simplified design approach to implementing a guaranteed power supply solution. There are only a few external components required for the complete solution. Renesas' ISL8203M provides high density power in a very small PCB board area. This is extremely difficult to do in a discrete design due to the number of external components, at the same time maintaining good thermal capability. Both of these challenges are solved by the ISL8203M. The patented packaging not only allows for high density power design in a small PCB board area, but also because of the excellent internal thermal capabilities, the ISL8203M requires no heat sinks or fans. Another important feature is the ability to provide higher currents by paralleling more than one of the ISL8203M modules together in a very small PCB board area. The ISL8203M has excellent efficiency at high load currents which minimizes the heat dissipation on the PCB board.
