In the case of the TPS630250 buck-boost converter, the total solution size when using the HotRod™ package is only 11% larger than using the WCSP. At 44 mm2  this is one of the industry’s smallest 2-Amp output buck-boost solution size, but even the HotRod at 49 mm2 package option is still by far smaller than previous offerings. Additionally, it overcomes the pushback from some users against Chip Scale Package and enable them to use low cost manufacturing.
