The TPS630250 is one of the industry’s smallest solution sizes, single inductor, 2-A output current Buck-Boost converter. Its output current of up to 2-A is supported over the entire input voltage range from 2.3 V to 5.5 V. This supports most of the available Li-Ion batteries chemistries. Its automatic power save mode draws only 35 µA of quiescent current in operating mode. Combined with an efficiency of up to 97% over a wide load range, it extends battery life and system operating or system standby times. The maximum output voltage ripple of only 50 mV in power save mode and the high output voltage accuracy of 1% over the complete load range makes the TPS630250 a very stable and reliable system power supply. The load disconnect when in disable mode protects the device against reverse current flow as well as eliminates parasitic drain from battery. The total solution size, including external inductor and capacitors is just 44 mm2 for the Chip-Scale-Package and 49 mm2 for the HotRod package option.
